Halloween is just a few weeks away and it’s definitely one of the holidays I look forward to every year! Do you dress up like your favourite movie character/style icon? Do you like screaming your heart out at scary theme parks? Well, imagine being in a real live horror movie when you visit Universal Studios Singapore (USS) this month as they transformed the entire theme park into haunted houses and scare zones that will definitely leave you shouting and screaming the whole night! It’s USS’ fifth instalment of Halloween Horror Nights and it’s the only immersive Halloween scare fest in Singapore this 2015. I was invited by Resorts World Sentosa two weeks ago during their special media preview and I can say it’s definitely worth experiencing.
I can’t even remember the last time I watched a scary film. Ever since I moved in to my new apartment, I try avoiding watching horror movies because 1. I’m super duwag (scaredy cat) and 2. I just can’t. Now imagine me going inside the theme park knowing I have to enter 4 haunted houses and 3 scare zones. I swear it was like I was ready to die in battle anytime hahaha! USS incorporated local ghost stories for their themes that why it’s a lot creepier. Below you’ll see some titles like “True Singapore Ghost Stories: The MRT” or “Hungry Ghosts”. Our first stop was actually a battle zone and in this area you’ll see these extraterrestrials and deformed soldiers asking for your help because there were giants and aliens eating them alive. I swear, everyone was so in character that I actually ran when the soldiers shouted “hurry and run for your life!!!” Intense.
What I love about Halloween Horror Nights 5 the most is that you don’t know what you’re about to expect. Zombies and ghosts pop out of nowhere and they really scare the hell out of you. Just a tip: if you get horrified easily and if you’re going with your barkada, make sure you’re in the middle of the line and not in the front/back. Promise, sila yung unang tatakutin! During our trip, I was always in the middle because they knew I was the most matakutin out of all of us. Poor Vina (the girl in front me all the time) probably had nail marks on her shoulders so I was clinching on to her so tight hahaha! Also, the sound effects make everything 10x scarier so bringing earphones will help you be a little bit more calm.
Some rides and attractions are also open throughout the event like Battlestar Galactica: Human vs. Cyclon, Puss in Boots’ Giant Journey, Transformers the Ride and a lot more and it’s nice to experience it at night too. Halloween Horror Nights 5 is from October 2-31 and it will run for 14 nights across 5 weekends. You can buy your tickets ONLINE or go directly to Universal Studios Singapore. Don’t miss out on the fun.
