Since it’s #ThrowbackThursday today, I wanted to share with you how lucky I am to be able to experience two Contiki trips last year. The latter one was a London, Paris and Amsterdam trip but since I’ve been to UK and France before, I figured I’ll start posting about my Amsterdam experience first. People do know it as the land of marijuana (lol), but aside from that, there are so many other reasons why you should visit this beautiful city.
Visiting the Albert Cuypmarkt is a must. It’s an outdoor street market and they sell all kinds of food and things. They even sell bicycles here! It’s located between Ferdinand Bolstraat and Van Woustraat, in the De Pijp area of the Oud-Zuid district of the city. They have the best chocolate caramel drink here too. It was my first time appreciating it hot too, since it was 3 degrees there and I’m used to ordering a cold one in our tropical country.
CHEESE!!!
We spent hours inside the Van Gogh Museum and it was such an incredible experience seeing his paintings up close and personal. I read all the information you can find inside and you’ll be so surprised how Van Gogh painted most of his pieces. I bought my favourite artwork at the souvenir shop (not the original one, of course lol) and it’s now in my living room! Sadly, no pictures were allowed inside the museum… so I guess you have to see it for yourself!
So many beautiful canals.
Next up: Moco Museum. It has a wide range or modern and contemporary art and I got to see some of Bansky’s and Warhol’s artworks. To be honest, this is my kind of jam. I’m not a collector but I appreciate art and I want to learn more about it. I still have so much to learn!
Second Amsterdam travel diary soon! I spent five days here so I’ve so much to share to you guys. BMS.
