Last Wednesday, the grand press con of Miss Teen Philippines 2014 happened at New World Makati Hotel and I am so honoured to be one of the ambassadors for this. It’s such a great honour to be part of the advisory council together with Jasmine Curtis Smith, Robbie Pinera, Jing Monis, Ruffa Gutierrez and Precious Lara Quigaman. Miss Teen Philippines 2014 is not just about looking for the teen that has the best face, they’re looking for something deeper than that. Education (which is 50% in the evaluation sheet during the coronation night) is the most important part of this pageant. They also partnered with DepEd and the winner will be an ambassadress for education so she can inspire and engage the youth to join their programs. I think all these young women have such great faces and personalities- when I met them, they were all very gracious! The 40 candidates were introduced to the media during the press con and you can really see their confidence right away.
We spoke with the candidates after the press con and hosted a workshop to teach them how to have confidence. Jasmine and I talked about our personal lives and how we were able to achieve our goals at such a young age. I also talked about being confident with what you wear and how you look. Jing Monis and Robbie Pinera talked about hair and make up and Ruffa Gutierrez taught the young women how to walk on the stage and answer questions with confidence. It was such an overwhelming feeling talking to these girls because 10 years ago, I was in their position. As I’m doing this blog post, I’m also already thinking of what to wear because tonight is the Miss Teen Philippines 2014 grand pageant night! It will be hosted by Georgina Wilson and Rovilson Fernandez and it will be held at PICC in Pasay City. This year’s Miss Teen Philippines 2014 will be receiving a prize package worth P2.6 million and will become a member of the Philippine delegation to the Southeast Asian Youth Program and the National Youth Parliament. For those of you who won’t be able to attend, don’t worry- you can watch it on TV5 on Sunday at 9:30pm. BMS.
