Hello Osaka! I had such an awesome time during my trip and I can’t wait to share my travel diaries with everyone. I’ve been to Japan twice and I’ve gone to Tokyo and Kyoto, but never Osaka.. That’s why I was so happy when I got an invitation form Bobson Japan to fly there and visit their headquarters. No, it’s not the local Bobson brand that you guys might be thinking of. This one that I’m talking about is the authentic Japanese denim brand and it’s the second oldest denim brand in Japan.
During our second day in Osaka, we went to the Marronnier College of Fashion Design, one of the best fashion schools in Japan, where Bobson Japan partnered up with to do a cool collaboration called the Bobson x Marronnier T-shirt graphic design contest. Given the title, I’m sure you guys know what it’s all about but I’d still like to give a few details about their special partnership. The contest is really all about finding unique shirt designs for men and women and the fashion students need to create shirts that’s all about Bobson Japan’s logo, which is a red dot. Not only is it about their brand- it’s also about Japan’s flag and the rising sun.
Before we got to talk to the principal and the design students, we were given a few hours to go around their school and check out some of the other courses Marronnier College offers. Look, they have hair styling classes! Cool right?
Ice cream break with my eating buddy Tricia.
After lunch, all the students who joined the contest were gathered altogether so they can share their work to us. I can say we’re all very lucky to be given the chance to see a sneak peak of their ongoing designs! The winning designers will be given 50,000 yen and a trip to the Philippines. Not only that, but the best part is their designs will be reproduced into Boson Japan shirts and will be sold in the Philippines.
Most of the design students didn’t know how to speak in English, so we had Yoshi (our translator and the best tour guide ever) interpret everything for us. They all explained how they came up with their illustrations/ drawings and they were all amazing. Japanese people are really talented! I would like to share more about their work of art but I don’t want to ruin the actual launch of their designs.
Impromptu moment: Tricia and I were called on stage to give styling tops to some of the students. Nakakahiya because they’re more fashionable than me pa! Lol.
All the entries will be posted on Bobson Japan’s Facebook Page on July 3 and you guys can vote for your favourite design until July 5. I’m very excited to see all their creations and I’m sure you guys will have a specific one that’s your favourite.
We spent our night at Dotonbori and it’s the bets place you can go to if you want to taste incredibly delicious food like kaarage, sushis and of course, takoyaki! I probably gained 5 pounds after this trip.
Say hello to the famous glico man!
Yoshi made us try the best kobe beef I’ve ever tasted my entire life at Mon-Ami. Definitely a must-try restaurant in Osaka.
Aside from the good food, you will be amazed that they have tons of purikuras!!!! I found out about these photo booths that will make you look taller, thinner and more glamorous right away!
That’s it for now. More Osaka travel diaries coming your way. BMS.
