When I hear the word “festival”, I automatically think of people drinking and dancing the night away. I didn’t know there was such a thing as music and wellness festivals like Murfest. Short for Malaysia Urban Retreat Festival, it’s a three-day retreat for your mind, body and soul. When I got an invitation to experience it myself, I immediately said yes. It’s always nice to get away from your daily, toxic life and feel relaxed and alive again. This festival is dedicated to people who want to have a conscious living towards a healthy and diverse life. It happened at Pullman Hotel in Kuala Lumpur and there were tons of people excited to try out the classes.
They gathered several instructors and speakers that are experts in their specific fields like aqua yoga, mind body bootcamp, yin yoga, upper chakra work, zumba, masala bhangra, music workshop and a lot more. Everything was really organised and it was three days filled with peace and meditation.
There were also a lot of cool stalls outside the classes selling yoga clothes, organic beauty products and healthy snacks.
It was my first time traveling abroad with my good friend Michele and we had loads of fun in Malaysia!
My favourite class was zumba because I love dancing and it was a great workout for me too. They opened two huge ballrooms so everyone could fit inside the venue. Everyone that attended Murkiest was really friendly and… chill. Chill is the perfect way to describe all of them.
Murfest happened last October 2015 and it’s their second time throwing this event. I really hope they throw one again this year becauseI want to experience it again. I promised myself to be healthier and embrace a fitness practice that I can adapt to my lifestyle. After the three-day retreat, your mindset about your lifestyle really changes for the better. BMS.
