I was considered Cai Subijano’s photographer of the day while she interviewed asian designers Vivienne Tam and Josie Natori. It’s very amazing how asians are being more recognised in our time of day and how successful and powerful these two women are as designers. We met up with them after their NYFW 2014 fashion show and we were also able to check out their newest collection! Yes, they’re as incredible as how you see them in runways. Both of them have so much passion in what they do and in sharing their designs to the world. We first went to the showroom of Vivienne Tam and I was amazed at how friendly she was- she even gave us VT phone casings for us to bring home. I heard she only gave away these casings during the show so we felt very privileged. As Cai started interviewing her, I started taking photos but couldn’t help myself so I just sat down and listened to her talk about her interests, her world and what she envisions her brand to be in the next five years. I love her. We quickly hurried to Josie Natori’s office afterwards. Upon arriving at her showroom, I felt my jaw drop when I saw how big her place is and how beautiful her designs are. She’s also a Filipina who went to NYC to pursue her dreams! Pinoy pride! She enters the room and it was instantly filled with positive energy- I love her. She answered Cai’s questions with detail- even pointing out what her favourite pieces are in the room and why she created such classy accessories. After the interview, it still felt so surreal for me that I had just met two amazing and talented designers. I’m such a lucky girl! After hearing them talk, I felt so inspired to work harder and to be the best woman I can be. Woman power- that’s what I call it. Cai’s wonderful article already came out last week (for those of you who doesn’t know her, she works for Philippine Star Y Style section) and you can read the entire article HERE. Happy reading!
