We live in a world where social media is a huge part of our lives. We see people posting selfies, working out, showing the best photos of themselves, we probably even follow our Victoria Secret model idols (i>(I do!) and consequently, we start comparing ourselves to what we see and the media portrays to be beautiful. People always talk about parts of their bodies they hate the most (I’m guilty as charged) but always seem to have the hardest time thinking about their most favorite part. I guess that’s why we always have that drive to be perfect because of what we see in television and magazines (and it’s not a bad thing to have a goal) but let’s not forget to love ourselves and appreciate each and every part of our body too.
When I saw this video Dove made, I was so moved. It’s only less than a minute and it’s really worth watching:
Isn’t it just so moving? A lot of us don’t realise our self worth and I think this 2014 we (including myself) should appreciate ourselves more. Let’s make it a goal to learn to love and care for ourselves and to be able to say #IAmBeautiful. You can also visit www.facebook.com/dove to join this beautiful #IAmBeautiful campaign. You can also check sharedove.ph to know how you can give your friend Dove bars and let them know they’re beautiful. BMS.
“I am so beautiful, sometimes people weep when they see me. And it has nothing to do with what I look like really, it is just that I gave myself the power to say that I am beautiful, and if I could do that, maybe there is hope for them too. And the great divide between the beautiful and the ugly will cease to be. Because we are all what we choose.” - Margaret Cho
